Utah and the Civil War

Beginning in 2011 until 2015, Utah and the Country remember the 150 years since the Civil War began, was fought, and ended. Multiple organizations throughout Utah have come together to create Civil War events to commemorate this pivitol time in history. This website serves as a place for people to come and learn about the events of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Events listings can be found on the calendar page. Links to various organizations involved in the anniversary are provided on the links page. Check out the other pages for educational information and contact information.

A Governor's Declaration

The Utah Civil War 150 Committee has been officially recognized as the organizing committee for Civil War Sesquicentennial events in Utah. The Governor signed the declaration on June 10, 2011. Below is a list of Committee members and the organizations to which they belong:

Fort Douglas 150th Anniversary Commemoration

On October 26th, 1861, Camp Douglas was established in Utah Territory . This October, Utah will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the raising of the flag over Fort Douglas. Major events include:
